Honey Mustard Chicken Salad
Honey Mustard Chicken Salad is creamy, tangy, and packed with protein. Tender chicken, crisp vegetables, and a homemade honey mustard dressing come together in this easy recipe that’s perfect for lunch, meal prep, or a light dinner.
One of my favorite things about this chicken salad is how versatile it is. Serve it over lettuce, make it into sandwiches, scoop it into a wrap, pile it onto croissants, or enjoy it straight from the bowl. It’s a great way to use leftover chicken and keeps well in the refrigerator for easy meals throughout the week.

We make chicken salad a lot for summer dinners because it’s hearty, but still light enough for hot days. One of the great things about making this honey mustard chicken salad recipe is that I can prep it ahead of time, so that it’s ready to eat whenever we want, like getting home late from the town pool. For me, that’s a huge plus because it alleviates stress and the “What’s for dinner?” question my kids ask every single afternoon.

How to Make Honey Mustard Chicken Salad

Step One: In a large bowl, whisk together the dressing ingredients until smooth. Season the dressing to taste.

Step Two: Add the chicken, veggies, and nuts to the bowl on top of the dressing.

Step Three: Toss with the dressing. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.

Top Tip💡
For the best flavor, refrigerate the salad for at least 30 minutes before serving. This gives the dressing time to soak into the chicken and vegetables.

Common Questions
That’s the fun part about making and enjoying this simple chicken salad. You can serve it however you want. Adding it on top of romaine lettuce for a healthy option is never a bad idea. You can also scoop it into a small bowl and just eat it with a fork or spoon.
Yes. While freshly cooked chicken has the best texture, canned chicken works in a pinch. I use canned chicken in my Easy Thai Chicken Salad Lettuce Wraps.
Pecans, almonds, sunflower seeds, chopped apples, celery, and water chestnuts are all excellent options.
