I tell everyone it’s the perfect dipping sauce, and trust me, it is. I’ve tried it out with veggie sticks, popcorn chicken, sweet potato fries, and Keto Chicken Nuggets. It’s also a really great condiment and sandwich spread!

How to Make Honey Mustard Sauce

Step One: Add all the ingredients into a blender to make this honey mustard recipe.

Step Two: Blend until it is smooth.
Top Tip💡
Use a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the blender so that everything gets blended together smoothly.
Substitutions
- Mustard – If you don’t have Dijon mustard, all is not lost. You can use regular yellow mustard instead. The flavor will be a little different, but it still makes a delicious honey mustard sauce.
- Apple cider vinegar – Fresh lemon juice works well in its place and gives the sauce a slightly brighter flavor.
Variations
- Sweetness – Add an extra pop of sweetness by drizzling in a little more honey. You can also use maple syrup for a different flavor. Add it to the blender a little at a time until the sauce tastes just right.
- Spicy – Add cayenne pepper or a little hot sauce for some heat. Just a pinch of cayenne pepper goes a long way.
- Creamy – For a creamier honey mustard dipping sauce, you could mix in a little mayonnaise or Greek yogurt.

Equipment
All you need to make this creamy honey mustard sauce is a blender, a rubber spatula, and a small serving bowl.
Storage
Any leftovers of this honey mustard sauce recipe need to be stored in an airtight container and kept in the fridge. Once you are ready to use again, give it a good stir, as there could be some liquid that has risen to the top. Just stir to absorb and enjoy.

Common Questions
I don’t recommend freezing it. Since you just need a handful of ingredients and a couple of minutes to make it, it’s just as simple to make it fresh. Freezing and thawing can also cause the sauce to separate and change the texture.
This version is more sweet and tangy than spicy, so it is definitely kid friendly. If you want more heat, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce. If you want it sweeter, simply increase the amount of honey.
It’s really up to you. I tend to use it most as a dipping sauce with chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, fries, and vegetables, but it also makes a great salad dressing or sandwich spread. You can even drizzle it over grilled chicken, salmon, or pork chops. Make sure to check out my recipes for Honey Mustard Salmon and Honey Mustard Pork Tenderloin which use this sauce.
Yes. You can use some as a marinade for chicken or pork. If the sauce comes into contact with raw meat, don’t use that same portion later as a dipping sauce. Set some aside first if you want extra sauce for serving.
Yes. You can easily make it a day ahead and keep it covered in the refrigerator. Give it a good stir before serving if any of the ingredients have separated.
