Substitutions

  • Cottage cheese – You can use full-fat cottage cheese or non-fat cottage cheese to make these simple smoothies.

  • Yogurt – A scoop of vanilla yogurt added to the mix adds a hint of vanilla flavoring. Greek yogurt adds even more protein.
  • Whole milk – Instead of almond milk, you can add regular milk. You can also use oat milk.
  • Sweetness – A touch of honey or maple syrup is an good way to add a pop of sweetness.

Equipment

To make this creamy smoothie, you really only need a high speed blender or food processor. It’s a must to get the right texture of cottage cheese.

Storage

While you can technically store this smoothie for later, I always find that I prefer the texture and taste of fresh. This is why I don’t make it until right up to the point of getting ready to sip and enjoy it.

If you do have leftovers, be sure to store them in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge. I also recommend consuming within a day, and make sure that you mix it really well before drinking as it will have settled quite a bit.

Common Questions

What can I add to the top of this smoothie recipe?

I’m all about adding a drizzle of honey right on top! You can also fancy it up with adding fresh or frozen berries, and even a little bit of homemade whipped cream. And keep in mind that you don’t have to add anything to the top as the flavor of this smoothie is delicious.

How do I add extra fiber to this cottage cheese blend?

You can add in leafy greens or a leafy green powder to kick up the fiber content of this drink.

Can I make this into a smoothie bowl?

Absolutely. You would follow the same steps, but instead of putting it into a glass or cup, add it to a bowl and then top as desired. It’s as simple as that!

To sub in Swerve or Lakanto Monk Fruit use 1.5 times the amount of sweetener called for.

  1. The only way I’ll eat cottage cheese! I used 1 tablespoon of white sugar as my sweetener. I wonder if the smoothie needed it though. Sweetener would definitely help make it more kid friendly.

Thanks for making smoothies just a little healthier and still keep them tasty.5 stars
