If you’re looking for a simple and versatile seasoning that you can use for pasta dishes, meat entrees, and more, this Tuscan Seasoning is just what you need. It’s an easy seasoning blend that takes minimal effort but packs a big punch of flavor.

I really like making my own spice blends, and this Tuscan herb seasoning is no exception. Homemade blends taste fresher, cost less, and let you control exactly what goes into them. Make a batch for yourself, and if you’re feeling ambitious, fill a few spice jars to share as gifts.

Be sure to try this Southwest Spice Blend, another easy DIY option.

How to Make Tuscan Seasoning

Step One: Mix all the different seasonings in a small bowl.

Step Two: Transfer the seasoning blend to an airtight spice jar or container for storage.

Top Tip💡

Store the seasoning in an airtight container away from heat and sunlight to preserve the best flavor. Keeping a jar on hand makes it easy to add flavor to weeknight meals.

Ways to Use Tuscan Seasoning

  • Sprinkle on chicken before grilling, baking, or air frying. We especially love it on Tuscan Grilled Chicken.
  • Toss with vegetables or potatoes before roasting.
  • Stir into pasta sauce for extra flavor.
  • Mix with olive oil for a simple bread dip.
  • Season pork chops, lamb, steak, or fish.
  • Add to soups, stews, and casseroles.

    Variations

    • Sea salt and black pepper – You can always add this into the spice mix for more flavor.
    • Heat – Increase the crushed red pepper flakes if you prefer a spicier seasoning blend. I love the extra spice in my Zesty Italian Seasoning.
    • Herbs – Feel free to adjust the herbs to suit your tastes. Additional basil, thyme, parsley, or rosemary all work well.

    Storage

To retain the natural flavor and texture, keep it stored in a cool, dark place. If you have a spice cabinet, that is best. Make sure that the container it is in is airtight.

    Common Questions

Is Tuscan seasoning the same as Italian seasoning?

No. Tuscan seasoning is similar to Italian seasoning but often includes additional ingredients like sun-dried tomato powder, lemon, and red pepper flakes for a more complex flavor.

    How long does seasoning last?

That really depends on how it is stored. If you store it correctly and keep the container airtight, you should be able to store it for a few months without issue. If you notice that it’s clumping, turns hard, or loses scent, that is your clue that it’s no longer good and needs to be remade.
