Ingredients
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts – You could also use chicken thighs for this chicken recipe.
- Olive oil – To hold the seasonings on top of the chicken.
- Tuscan seasoning – A homemade blend of herbs, garlic, sun-dried tomato, lemon, and spices. See the recipe card below for exact amounts.
- Salt – A good rule of thumb is to use 1/2-1 teaspoon of salt per pound of meat. You can use kosher salt, sea salt, or another type.
See recipe card for quantities.

How to Make Tuscan Grilled Chicken
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

Step One: Drizzle the chicken with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.

Step Two: Mix the Tuscan seasoning ingredients in a small bowl. Then rub the seasoning evenly over both sides of the chicken.

Step Three: Place the chicken onto the grill.

Step Four: Grill for 6-8 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.

Step Five: Remove from the grill and let the chicken rest.

Step Six: Slice and serve.
Top Tip💡
Remove the chicken when it reaches 160°F. The temperature will continue to rise to the safe temperature of 165°F as it rests.
Substitutions
- Seasonings – Feel free to adjust the seasoning blend to your tastes. Extra rosemary, oregano, garlic powder, or black pepper all work well.
- Chicken – You can use this seasoning on any type or cut of chicken.
Variations
- Citrus flavor – You can also drizzle a little bit of fresh lemon juice or add lemon wedges to the top of the cooked chicken once done for a pop of citrus flavoring.
- Oven – If it isn’t grilling season, you can make this in the oven. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat, sear the chicken on both sides, then transfer to a 400°F oven and cook until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.

Storage
Store leftover chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.
You can also freeze this cooked, grilled chicken for later. Add it to a freezer-safe container and store it. To thaw, move the container to the fridge, then reheat and eat.
You can also store any leftover seasoning in an airtight jar or spice container and keep it in your spice cabinet.

Common Questions
Absolutely. Boneless chicken thighs work very well with Tuscan seasoning and stay especially juicy on the grill.
While I do love it with chicken, you can also use it as a flavor enhancer for roasted veggies, steak, pork, seafood, other types of protein, or casseroles. You can even use it to make a dressing by mixing it with olive oil and vinegar.
You can! Just be sure that once you add the seasoning, you then put the chicken back into the fridge and keep it cold. Then, when it’s time to grill, all that you have to do is take the chicken out of the fridge and put it right onto the preheated grill. If you prefer a wet marinade, mix it into 1/4 cup oil, 1/4 cup water, and 2 tablespoons of vinegar.
