Top Tip💡

Remove the chicken when it reaches 160°F. The temperature will continue to rise to the safe temperature of 165°F as it rests.

Substitutions

  • Seasonings – Feel free to adjust the seasoning blend to your tastes. Extra rosemary, oregano, garlic powder, or black pepper all work well.
  • Chicken – You can use this seasoning on any type or cut of chicken.

Variations

  • Citrus flavor – You can also drizzle a little bit of fresh lemon juice or add lemon wedges to the top of the cooked chicken once done for a pop of citrus flavoring.
  • Oven – If it isn’t grilling season, you can make this in the oven. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat, sear the chicken on both sides, then transfer to a 400°F oven and cook until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.

Common Questions

Can I use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts?

Absolutely. Boneless chicken thighs work very well with Tuscan seasoning and stay especially juicy on the grill.

What else can I use Tuscan seasoning with?

While I do love it with chicken, you can also use it as a flavor enhancer for roasted veggies, steak, pork, seafood, other types of protein, or casseroles. You can even use it to make a dressing by mixing it with olive oil and vinegar.

Can I marinate the chicken ahead of time?

You can! Just be sure that once you add the seasoning, you then put the chicken back into the fridge and keep it cold. Then, when it’s time to grill, all that you have to do is take the chicken out of the fridge and put it right onto the preheated grill. If you prefer a wet marinade, mix it into 1/4 cup oil, 1/4 cup water, and 2 tablespoons of vinegar.
