When I was a kid I would eat handfuls of Red Hots until my mouth was on fire. Spicy cinnamon has been a favorite flavor ever since. When I found cinnamon oil I knew I had to use it in a batch of Red Hot Cinnamon Gummies. This sugar free version is one of my favorites! This easy recipe is low carb, keto, gluten free, grain free, sugar free, and Trim Healthy Mama friendly.
Gummies always make me feel like a kid. They are my favorite candy and one I really missed when I gave up sugar. Making sugar-free gummies at home is easier than I thought it would be and can be a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth.
At first, I used a tiny dropper but then I got impatient and tried to pour a few drops faster. Woah. My mouth was burning. But it was a good burn. These are really good. If you like spicy cinnamon just keep adding drops until your mouth is happy.
I use LorAnn Cinnamon Oil in these. You can either buy tiny bottles, small bottles, or an assortment of flavors. If you really like cinnamon the small bottles are the most economical. Remember that you only need a few drops for a recipe. The tiny dram bottles still have enough for 4 or 5 batches of gummies.
These are low carb, gluten free, grain free, sugar-free, and a THM FP. This recipe makes about 2 dozen gummies. You can double it to make more.
Ingredients in homemade gummies:
1 cups water
2 tablespoon THM gentle sweet (or my blend of erythritol, stevia, and xylitol)
5-10 or more drops of cinnamon oil (to taste)
1-2 scoops of Better Stevia (or your favorite stevia), optional
3 tablespoon gelatin (4 packets)
Food coloring (optional, I used a few drops of red)

Red Hot Cinnamon Gummies
Ingredients
- 1 cups water
- 2 tablespoon Joy Filled Eats Sweetener (or see alternatives in recipe notes)
- 5-10 or more drops of cinnamon oil to taste
- 1-2 scoops stevia extract or your favorite stevia, optional
- 3 tablespoon gelatin 4 packets
- red food coloring optional, I used a few drops
Instructions
- Combine first 3 ingredients in a small pot and heat over low to medium heat until very warm. TASTE IT. You can add more cinnamon oil or more sweetener (add stevia if you'd like). Tailor it to your taste buds.
- Slowly whisk in the gelatin until dissolved. At this point I pour it through a mesh sieve to strain out any pieces of gelatin that didn't dissolve. Pour into silicone molds and refrigerate until firm.

When do you add the red food coloring? After gelatin dissolves ?
Taryn says
You can really just add it any time. I normally add it near the end.

I've made these a few times and so thrilled to see the recipe- one of my fav sweet treats!! My first batch was perfect, but I've had a bit of trouble with subsequent batches and hoped you might have a tip. The cinnamon oil does not evenly distribute amongst my bears. Obviously, we are mixing water and oil here 🙂 and I stir really well and try to pour quickly, but something isn't working like my earlier batch where all the bears tasted hot. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Hi Taryn, so excited to try making these! I was going to pick up some Silicon molds and realized they come with different size ml variations! Can you tell me what the above recipe will fill? Like 15, 5ml, pieces? And does 4 servings = 4 silicone trays of gummies? thanks so much for posting this!!!
Taryn says
The total volume for this is about 250 ml. So it will depend on the size of the tray you get. Just divide the number of pieces by 4 to get one serving.
Ms fuller says
I followed the recipe exactly, and ended up with jello, it didn't even taste like gummies
Taryn says
Which gelatin did you use?
It is hard to get a real gummy texture at home without having them taste like gelatin. You may need to add more gelatin next time. Different brands can yield different results.
Fran says
Can you use cinnamon extract instead of the oil? If you can how much?
Taryn says
No, I don't think that would yield the right flavor.
D Y says
What’s the texture of these? Are they more like the inside of a jelly bean or are they like gummy bears?
Taryn says
They are a little softer than gummy bears but firmer than jell-o. It is hard to get a true gummy consistency in a home kitchen.
Kristy K. James says
They sound like the chewy cinnamon bears I love - even more than I love gummy bears - so yay! 🙂
Sandra Skaggs says
Easy to make and tastes wonderful!
Teresa says
Can these ne made as a hard candy? My brother loves cinnamon candy and i usually make it for him, but he has been diagnosis with diabetes (he misses my candy) Thank you
Taryn says
Not this exact recipe but if you can find a sugar free hard candy recipe this oil could probably work.
Juni says
Sugar free hard candy is isomalt, sucralose and water. You have to 320 degrees f vs 300 tho…Lorann also makes a mix.
Also if you want a firmer texture you need to add corn syrup, honey or agave and a bit of guar gum, and you’ll have gummies instead of jello.
Taryn says
Thanks for that info. I personally don't use sucralose in my kitchen.
VALERIE SANTIAGO says
What is the best way to store these and keep them fresh? I just made my first batch and love them! Thank you.
Taryn says
Store them in the refrigerator.
Delaney says
i really want to make these but the two different sweeteners confuse me. I only have Truvia. would this be okay and would i need to use it twice like listed in the recipe?
Taryn says
Truvia should be fine. You can just use it in place of the first sweetener and then add a little more if the liquid doesn't taste sweet enough before chilling.
Brenda says
Can you help me understand about the sweeteners and how to use them?? Which ones are best and healthiest for you. How do you make your sweetener. I am new to trying this THM I have not really started because I do not know how to cook without sugar or white flour. Don’t know where to find some of this stuff or how to substitute it in a recipe.
Taryn says
Hi Brenda, I have a lot of information on sweeteners in this post: https://joyfilledeats.com/sweetener
Maura says
Dr. Greger of Nutritionfacts.org says the evidence from PubMed indicates that erythritol is best. See his short videos on Nutritionfacts.org regarding sugar substitutes.
Melinda says
What is the measurement for the stevia in this recipe? Is the 1-2 “scoops” equal to cups?
Thanks!
Taryn says
1 scoop is 1/32 of a teaspoon.
Lacy says
I'm confused about how much gelatin to use, it says 3 tablespoons but isn't 4 packets way more than that?
Taryn says
I think you are thinking of jello packets. You need knox packets or another plain unflavored gelatin. The packets are much smaller than a box of jello.
Arlene R says
Any alternative to the red food dye? I have kids with ADHD and they can't have it.
Taryn says
The food coloring is optional. I've never tried natural food coloring but I know there are some.
Cynthia says
I am really excited to make these, but what is a scoop?? 1 Tbps?
Taryn says
No, the scoops that come with stevia are 1/32 of a teaspoon.
Sheila says
I just purchased 4oz. organic cinnamon oil from Olive nation, less per oz, than the one on amazon.
Taryn says
LMK how you like it! I'm curious if it's spicy or just cinnamony.
Tricia says
I have tried this recipe twice now using Knox and Lorann oil. The first batch didn't have enough flavor for me so I increased the oil and the Sweeteners by 2X (20 oil drops) for the second batch. Oddly, the flavor was great when the candies first firmed up but by the next day they were almost tasteless. This happened both times. Any idea why this would be happening?
Taryn says
I've never had that happen before. I'm not sure why the flavor would disappear.
Teri says
I'm excited to try this reciepe. I love hot tamales so I know I will love these. Thz
Ken Whittaker says
These fulfill the childhood need for cinnamon bears. I added just a pinch of Xanthan gum to firm them up. I send the silicone bear forms “ cute” little bears. Thanks for the recipe.
Lanny says
I made these yesterday.....and......WOW, I LOVE them!! They take me back to my childhood; reminding me of those red hot cinnamon candies. Yummm! Thanks for developing such great recipes!!
Karen says
It says low carb with a little less than 3 calories per gummie, but what is the carb count? Love cinnamon (and gummies) and can't wait to try this!
Thanks!
Taryn says
0. They don't have any carbs.
TerandJen says
Gelatin has 19 carbs per 1/2 cup?
Taryn says
Where are you finding that information? That might be true for the kind in the grocery store with added sugar. Plain unflavored gelatin is 0 carbs.
