Ingredients
- Heavy cream – Heavy whipping cream gives this easy dessert its richness and fluffy texture.
- Cream cheese – Rich, creamy, and gives this a cheesecake flavor.
- Powdered sweetener – Adds the perfect pop of sweetness that is allowed with a low-carb diet.
- Lemon extract or lemon zest – These give a bolder lemon flavor than using fresh lemon juice, which is why I recommend them.

How to Make Keto Lemon Mousse

Step One: Use a hand mixer and whip the heavy cream in a large mixing bowl until stiff peaks form. Put the mixture into a different medium bowl.

Step Two: Add the cream cheese, sweetener, and lemon extract into the large mixing bowl. Mix until it is light and fluffy.

Step Three: Add 1/3 of the whipped cream. Mix well. This helps to lighten the cream cheese.

Step Four: Carefully fold in the rest of the whipped cream.

Step Five: Spoon into a serving bowl or add to a piping bag and pipe into a bowl or serving dish. Piping does give a prettier presentation.

Step Six: Garnish with lemon zest.

Equipment
To make this low carb lemon mousse dessert, you really only need an electric mixer with a whisk attachment, a large bowl, a separate mixing bowl, and an airtight container or two for storage.
Storage
Make sure that you store this luscious dessert correctly so that you can enjoy it for days! Add the completed mixture to an airtight container or storage jars, and keep them in the fridge. Tasty recipes like this are best served cold, and due to the added cream cheese, need to be stored and kept chilled.

Common Questions
Yes, but you will need plenty of elbow grease to whip the cream. Make sure the cream is cold. It is easier to mix the cream cheese if that is room temperature.
More than likely, you just didn’t whisk it enough. A lot of people will whisk and stop when soft peaks form, but you need to keep going and make sure that you whisk until you have firm peaks. This is key to getting the best results in terms of texture.
This recipe can be stored in the freezer – just be sure that you cover it completely and have it airtight. When you are ready to enjoy, you can then move it to the fridge to start the thawing process. It will take a couple of hours to thaw and have a soft, mousse texture.
You can also eat it while it’s frozen for more of an ice cream texture. It’s a fun way to try it differently!
