Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Only 3 ingredients
- Sugar-free and keto-friendly
- Ready in minutes
- Perfect for hot or iced coffee
- Easy to customize with different flavors
- Stores well in the refrigerator
- Much cheaper than store-bought sugar-free syrups
Before You Get Started
- Use boiling water so the sweetener dissolves completely.
- Stir until the syrup is perfectly smooth.
- Let the syrup cool before storing.
- Choose a concentrated extract for the best flavor.

Ingredients
- Joy Filled Eats Sweetener – I use my Joy Filled Eats Sweetener, but allulose, monk fruit blends, or erythritol blends also work. I prefer my own homemade sweetener, which is a blend of sugar alcohols and stevia.
- Boiling water – Dissolves the sweetener and creates the syrup.
- Extract of your choice – Vanilla, maple, almond, hazelnut, coconut, peppermint, butter pecan, or caramel extract all work well.
See quantites in the recipe card.

Step Two: Let cool, then transfer to a mason jar or bottle. Add to coffee, tea, protein shakes, or other drinks.

Start with 1 tablespoon per cup of coffee, then adjust to taste. Different sweeteners vary in sweetness.
Storage
Store the syrup in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Stir before using if any crystals settle.

Variations
- Vanilla – Each time you make this, you can change the extract that you use. Vanilla extract is popular, but don’t forget that almond extract is pretty delicious as well. Once you change the extract, you just follow the rest of the recipe card to finish making the keto sweetener – it’s as simple as that.
- Add cinnamon – You can add warmth to your favorite drink by turning this into a homemade sugar-free cinnamon syrup. Don’t forget to use cinnamon sticks to stir for even more flavor! (This is a fun addition to do during the holiday months, as cinnamon is just something that people typically associate with that time of year!)
- Brown sugar sweetener – Swap in a brown sugar substitute if you prefer using regular brown sugar in your coffee.

Common Questions
What can I use to sweeten my coffee on keto?
This homemade keto syrup is just what you need! A lot of people love to have a morning coffee but forget that once they’re doing low carb or low calorie, that basically cuts out the option for pouring in regular coffee creamers from the store.
Using this sugar-free keto syrup not only keeps everyone in check on their keto lifestyle but also adds sweetness and flavor without worry and guilt.
And don’t forget that you can change the flavor so it never gets old by adding different extracts each time.

Can I use this in iced coffee?
Yes! It dissolves completely and works beautifully in both hot and cold coffee drinks.
What is the best alternative to sugar in coffee?
This simple sugar substitute is a perfect sub for regular sugar. It’s a great way to add sweetness to even bulletproof coffee while still keeping carbs and calories low.
How do I store sugar free coffee syrup?
Once you make this, you can add the sugar free syrup to an airtight container and store it in the fridge. Then, once you’re ready to use it, you can stir and add it to your favorite drinks or recipes. Heat it back up slowly and then let it cool down a bit before using. I love it in my Keto Coffee Recipe with Heavy Cream.

I used allulose instead and it tastes awesome! Thank you.
So how much monk fruit would you use for this in place of what you are using?
What type of monk fruit do you have? Is it pure monk fruit extract (very concentrated, like stevia) or is it mixed with another sweetener (example: Lakanto also has erythritol)?
It is mixed with erythritol.
Use 1-1.5 times the amount listed. It depends how sweet you want it.
Does this crystalize or stay in liquid form? I have had this problem with other recipes in the past, so I wondering how to avoid that. Any tips? Thanks.
It will eventually crystallize a bit but it takes a week or two based on my testing. I just shake it and use it anyway.
I use extra caramel extract and a wee bit of kosher salt in addition to a little vanilla. I also use half Allulose, half xylitol. I love this and it has no aftertaste!
I made a half batch of this using a monk fruit blend. I think my vanilla spilled out to be a little more but its delicious!! All the other sugar free sweeteners taste nasty to me. Do you have any idea how to make a caramel flavored syrup? Maybe there is caramel flavoring?
Hi Sarah, I’m glad you like it! Yes, there is caramel extract available in most grocery stores in the baking aisle.
How much caramel would you use?
I would start with 1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon of caramel extract and taste it. You can always add more.
If anyone uses this recipe and makes it with vanilla will you measure for me how much vanilla you used to make it best. I tried peppermint extract flavoring and it was throw in the sink baaaaaaad even with just a drop
Peppermint extract can be strong. A drop or two should not have made it overpowering though. For vanilla you can use a teaspoon.
I just made this but it does crystallize a lot. Tasted great though. I really appreciate these low calorie sights but the pop ups/ videos are annoying and take forever to load. Thanks.

what about using Allulose as a sweetener? If so recommended amount. thank you 😊
You can use the amount listed or a bit more.
Just made this also using your all natural sweetener.
It’s so fantastic! In syrup form, in blends in smoothly and really has a nice even taste as opposed to me just using monkfruit in my coffee.
Great idea! Thanks so much for sharing 🩷
I used vanilla to flavor. This is a great recipe!
Thank you for this! I’ve been my cinnamon dolce coffee sugar free syrup. This is perfect with vanilla and cinnamon added.
