Ingredients
- Sugar-free chocolate chips – I like using the recipe for my homemade chocolate chips (no need to mold them at all since this requires melted chocolate), but you can also buy them from the store.
- Coconut oil – Helps give the mousse the right texture.
- Cream cheese – Adds richness and helps create that creamy texture.
- Powdered sweetener – Adds sweetness without adding sugar.
- Heavy cream – Whips up to give the mousse its light and fluffy texture.

How to Make Keto Chocolate Mousse

Step One: Combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave and stir until mostly melted (about 75%). Remove from the microwave and stir continuously until smooth and fully melted. Add the cream cheese and mix until smooth. Stir in the sweetener.

Step Two: In a separate large bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Step Three: Add a small amount of the whipped cream to the chocolate mixture and mix well. Fold in the remaining whipped cream until combined.

Step Four: Serve right away or chill until you’re ready to enjoy it. This looks pretty piped into small glasses or jars.
Top Tip💡
Some of the sweetness in this mousse comes from the sweetener in the chocolate chips. You may want to add an extra tablespoon or two of powdered sweetener if you choose chips that aren’t very sweet.
Substitutions
- Keto sweetener – You can use your favorite powdered keto sweetener for this sugar free dessert. A powdered sweetener works best because it blends into the mousse without leaving a gritty texture.
Variations
- Unsweetened cocoa powder – For even more chocolate flavor, add a little unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao powder. Keep in mind that any optional ingredients will change the nutrition facts for this easy keto chocolate mousse recipe.

Equipment
To make this easy chocolate mousse recipe, you just need a stand mixer or electric hand mixer, a couple of large mixing bowls, and small bowls or glasses for serving.
Storage
Once you make this low carb chocolate mousse, keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. This will help the keto mousse keep its shape and fluffy texture. I don’t recommend freezing it because the cream cheese and heavy cream can change texture once thawed.

Common Questions
You can. Just remember, any additions change the carb and calorie count for your low-carb diet. That being said, this fluffy mousse would be yummy with dark chocolate shavings, a pinch of salt, or even some sprinkles to make it festive. There are so many options when it comes to adding toppings, so have fun and change it up depending on your cravings.
Absolutely. Just be sure that once you make it, you store it in an airtight container and you keep it chilled.
You don’t have to. You can serve the mousse right away, but chilling it will give it a firmer texture. It’s totally up to you and what you like.
If your heavy cream is only forming soft peaks, keep whipping it a little longer. It also helps to start with very cold heavy cream and a chilled mixing bowl. Stop once stiff peaks form so that you don’t over-whip the cream.
