Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- No baking required
- High in protein
- Ready with simple ingredients
- Great for meal prep
- Naturally gluten-free
- Easy to customize
Before You Get Started
- Use full-fat cottage cheese for the creamiest texture.
- Blend until completely smooth.
- Let the cookie dough chill before serving.
- Taste and adjust the sweetener if needed.

Ingredients
- Cottage cheese – Full-fat cottage cheese creates the richest texture. Choose your favorite brand.
- Brown sugar sweetener – Sweetens the cookie dough. You can use regular brown sugar if you prefer.
- Salted butter – Softened butter gives the dough a classic cookie dough flavor.
- Vanilla extract – For flavor.
- Almond flour – Adds more texture to the cookie dough.
- Whey protein powder – Vanilla or unflavored whey protein both work well. If using sweetened protein powder, reduce the sweetener to taste.
- Salt – Enhances the other flavors.
- Sugar free chocolate chips – For texture and sweetness.

How to Make Cottage Cheese Cookie Dough

Step One: Put the cottage cheese into a food processor and blend until it is smooth. Add the butter, sweetener, and vanilla extract and blend.

Step Two: Mix in the almond flour, protein powder, and salt.

Step Three: Blend well. You want it to be completely smooth. Transfer to a bowl.

Step Four: Fold the chocolate chips into the cottage cheese mixture. You can eat it right away with a spoon or as a dip, or chill until it is firm.

Step Five: For firmer cookie dough, chill in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours. It will thicken in the fridge.

Step Six: Serve and enjoy.
Top Tip💡
Don’t rush the blending step. Smooth cottage cheese is the key to making this taste like traditional edible cookie dough instead of a cottage cheese dessert.
Substitutions
- Cottage cheese – You can use large or small curd cottage cheese.
- Extract – You could use almond extract in place of vanilla.
- Sweetener – Pure maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar can be used to sweeten the cookie dough. If it is too thin, add extra almond flour.
Variations
- Double Chocolate Cookie Dough – Mix in 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
- Peanut Butter Cookie Dough – Adding natural peanut butter is a great way to change up the flavor.
- Sugar Cookie – Use vanilla protein powder. Add in 1/2 teaspoon each almond extract and butter extract. Top with some sprinkles.
- Chocolate Chunk – Replace the chocolate chips with chopped sugar-free chocolate.
- Birthday Cake – Stir in rainbow sprinkles, almond extract, and butter extract.

Equipment
To make this no-bake cottage cheese cookie dough, you need to have a food processor or high-speed blender, a measuring cup, and a rubber spatula for scraping off the sides.
Storage
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
I don’t recommend freezing it because the texture changes once thawed.

Common Questions
It actually does! I was skeptical, but it’s quickly become one of my favorite recipes. The blended cottage cheese disappears into the mixture, leaving a creamy cookie dough texture with plenty of chocolate chips.
Yes. Chopped nuts, peanut butter, shredded coconut, or different-flavored chocolate chips all work well.
Absolutely. You can drizzle with peanut butter or almond butter for even more protein, or dice up some fresh fruit and add it. Just keep in mind that anything that you do add will change the carb and calorie count, so make sure that you factor that in if you’re tracking numbers.
