Blue Cheese Dip Recipe
This Blue Cheese Dip Recipe is the ideal creamy dip to treat your taste buds in minutes. All you need are five simple ingredients, and this delicious dip is ready to enjoy with crunchy veggies, chips, or buffalo wings. It’s the perfect appetizer with minimal effort.

This creamy blue cheese dip is honestly the best way to add some instant flavor to fresh vegetables. Once you mix the ingredients, it’s as simple as adding the dip to your favorite serving bowl. But you can also eat it with potato chips, hot wings, as a sandwich spread, or on top of a burger!

Ingredients
- Blue cheese – You can use packaged blue cheese crumbles or just cut up a wedge.
- Mayonnaise – Adds creaminess to the dip.
- Sour cream – Adds a nice tang and creamy texture.
- Garlic powder – Garlic gives this extra flavor.
- Black pepper – Add as much or as little as you like.

How to Make this Blue Cheese Dip Recipe
Step One: Add all the ingredients for this easy blue cheese dip to a medium bowl. Mix well. Season with pepper and serve.
You can serve this easy blue cheese dip recipe immediately once it’s made. But I like to add it to an airtight container and let it chill for a bit, as that helps the flavors mesh a bit, and I prefer my dips colder vs room temperature.

Top Tip💡
Because of the natural saltiness of blue cheese, this dip does not need any added salt, in my opinion. If you taste it and think it needs some, start with a tiny pinch and add more to taste.
Substitutions
- Greek yogurt – You can use plain Greek yogurt in place of sour cream. This swap won’t affect the bold flavor, and it’s a simple way to add a boost of protein as well.
Variations
- Green onions – Toppings are a simple way to make this dip even better. Dice up some green onions and sprinkle them on top for flavor and a pop of color.
- Bacon – Cook up some smoky bacon and stir in the bits.

Storage
Once this homemade blue cheese dip is made, store it in the fridge until you are ready to serve. Be sure to either cover the dip bowl with plastic wrap or aluminum foil or add it to an airtight container for the best results.
I don’t recommend freezing this dip for later, as it will likely have a different texture when thawed.

Common Questions
You can serve it and enjoy it in so many different ways. Place a bowl of it in the middle of a veggie platter, or have sliced veggies individually. I like to cut celery sticks into pieces and slice bell peppers, but it’s totally up to you. Carrots are another classic choice to pair with blue cheese. Other than veggies, you can serve this dip with tortilla chips or even as a dip for hot chicken wings.
You can, up to 3 days ahead. Just be sure to store it in the fridge once it’s mixed until it’s ready to serve. That way, it’s nice and chilled for your guests.
Absolutely. If you want to cut down on calories, you can use both light mayo and light sour cream. Just know that any alteration to the ingredients that are listed on the recipe card could result in a different flavor outcome. Depending on the brand of mayo and sour cream, some may taste different.
For those who love spicy foods and heat, it’s easy to add a kick of spicy flavor to this dip. Sprinkle in some cayenne pepper when you’re mixing. Stir, and then taste. Add more as desired. If you accidentally add too much and it’s too hot, you can try to offset it a bit by adding a bit more sour cream. It’s a balance, so be careful when making it spicy.
