Just five simple ingredients are all that is needed to make this easy Air Fryer Sausage Patties. Full of flavor and taste, this easy sausage recipe is perfect for breakfast. Eat it alone or pair it up with an egg or two!
I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a huge fan of sausage. I don't know if I'm ready to announce that I like it better than bacon but I do think that eating a piece of sausage can turn any bad day into a good one.
I love making my own air fryer sausage patties because they're just so much better than the frozen sausage patties at the grocery store. Not only is it great to be able to season the patties however you want them but you can size them as well. My kids love to have patties that fit nicely on keto buttermilk biscuits so I try to make them into as round as shape as possible.
My sausage shaping skills might need some work but I have these tender breakfast sausage patties down pat! You'll see why it's one of my favorite air fryer recipes. Ingredients Needed
Once you make this recipe once, you're going to love knowing that it's crazy simple to make homemade sausage every single time.
Ground pork - You'll find different flavors of ground pork options at the store. My store offers spicy ground pork and even flavored ground pork.
Minced onion - This adds a nice texture to the sausage patties.
Garlic powder - Garlic powder is always a must!
Kosher salt
Black pepper
You can even shape these sausage patties into long cylinders to make them into sausage links as well!
How To Make Air Fryer Sausage Patties
Since you get to use your air fryer for this recipe, you know it's going to be a breeze!
Step One: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Step Two: Combine all the ingredients and make them into patties.
Step Three: Add the fresh sausage patties to the air fryer basket and cook for 8 minutes of time. Make sure you have the patties in a single layer.
Variations
Minced garlic - If you really like garlic, add minced garlic instead of garlic powder.
Chili flakes - Add chili flakes to your recipe to add a bit of heat.
Diced up jalapenos - This might just be for me since I like hot foods but adding some diced fresh jalapenos are always a great idea.
Turkey or Chicken - If you have ground turkey or ground chicken, you can make air fried patties the same way.
Herbs - Sage and thyme would also be great ingredients to add to this sausage mixture.
Spices - Paprika is a good choice.
Common Questions
How do you know when the pork sausage patties are done cooking?
To make sure that the pork is safe to eat, I highly recommend having a meat thermometer to get the internal temperature.
For pork to be considered done, it needs to be at least 145 degrees.
Do I need to grease the air fryer basket?
Since the pork is going to have its own grease, you don't need to add any extra grease to the air fry tray or air fryer tray as long as yours has a non-stick coating. Just put the patties on the basket and start frying.
Do you have to flip the air fryer breakfast sausages in the air fryer?
You don't! I told you this was a super simple way to cook sausage. Once you add the patties to the air fryer, there is nothing that you have to do except be patient and ready for them to be done cooking.
Can I use aluminum foil in the air fryer to cook the patties on?
While this might be great for a fast clean-up, it might not be the best choice for cooking sausage. You want to make sure that the air is circulating all around the fryer and if you have the aluminum foil blocking that, it might cause a bit of a cooking time issue.
What do you serve sausage with?
I'm all about adding sausage to my other breakfast recipes! I love eating sausage as a quick breakfast as is but it also tastes great paired with a cooked egg, or a piece of toast, too. I also think French toast would be a great choice!
Don't forget that you can easily make a breakfast sandwich by adding the patty and some cheese to a bun. Or serve with some Air Fryer Omelet Bites.
No matter if you're a bacon fan or a pork fan, there is always room for both on the breakfast plate!
How do you store leftover air fryer sausage patties?
Make sure that you store the patties in an airtight container in the fridge. That way, when it's time to eat them, you can just pop them in the microwave and warm them up quickly.
Can you cook these raw sausage patties on the stovetop?
You can but it's messier and takes longer! You can add to a hot skillet and cook but just be ready for popping grease and hot temps.
This is why I make my cooked sausage patties in the air fryer.
