Ingredients

  • Hot Sauce – The classic red hot sauce will give the most authentic buffalo sauce flavor. To change it up, choose a green hot sauce made from jalapenos.
  • Cooked Chicken – Any type of cooked, cubed, or shredded chicken will work. This is a great way to use up leftover chicken.
  • Cream Cheese – I use full-fat cream cheese, but low-fat cream cheese can also be used. You want to use softened cream cheese for easier mixing.
  • Sour Cream – I like how the tang of sour cream cuts the richness of the mayo and cream cheese. Greek yogurt works too.
  • Mayo – Make sure to choose a mayo that has a flavor you enjoy.
  • Cheddar Cheese – Shredded cheddar cheese is my top choice in this keto buffalo chicken dip, but shredded mozzarella cheese can be used in a pinch.
  • Worcestershire Sauce – Worcestershire is a great flavor enhancer.
  • Seasonings – I use garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Toppings – These are optional, but I like to drizzle on some ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing and sprinkle on bacon crumbles right before serving.

Variations

  • Spiciness – You can easily vary the spiciness of this by adding extra hot sauce.

  • Green Onions – Chopped green onions (scallions) or fresh chives make a nice garnish and add some color.

Common Questions

Is Buffalo Dip Keto?

If you are at a party and see some buffalo dip, chances are that it is keto. There might be some additives or preservatives in the ingredients, but most of the time, it is fine.

It can be tricky to find dippers, though, as it is normally served with tortilla chips. In the worst-case scenario, you can always spoon some on a plate and eat with a fork.

What Do You Serve With Buffalo Chicken Dip?

You can really serve this easy gluten free dip recipe with pretty much anything you like. I usually use crisp keto friendly vegetables like cucumbers or thinly sliced zucchini, but I wanted to give you some ideas. Take a look at these ideas to consider:

  • Veggies – Celery sticks, carrot sticks, bell pepper slices, broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, there are plenty of choices.
  • Leaf Lettuce – Use large leaf lettuce and add the dip to make a yummy buffalo chicken wrap.
  • Crackers – I often like to dip these keto cheese crackers into this low carb buffalo chicken dip, and it’s out of this world.
  • Low Carb Chips – Any kind of keto friendly chips would be good too, such as parmesan crisps.
  • Pork Rinds – If you enjoy pork rinds, go ahead and use them to eat this dip. They are crispy and flavorful too.
  • Low Carb Tortilla Chips – There are many brands of keto tortilla chips on the market nowadays or you can make your own.
  • Low Carb Tortillas – You can also just spoon some dip down the center of a keto friendly tortilla, add some lettuce, and wrap it up.

For anyone not on a keto diet you can offer regular chips, baguette slices,

Can I Make Buffalo Chicken Dip In Advance?

Yes, absolutely! Prep the ingredients and add them all to the deep dish pie pan. Cover the pan and put it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Then bake as directed and enjoy!

Additionally, you can bake the buffalo chicken dip ahead of time, too. Just bake as the instructions state and let it cool down. Once cool, cover and put in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or in the oven. It makes great leftovers too.

Do I Have To Use Canned Chicken?

No, you don’t have to use canned chicken to make this keto buffalo chicken dip recipe. But it is an easy and quick option that allows you to make buffalo chicken dip with very little planning or notice.

You can use cooked chopped chicken breast, shredded chicken, cooked chicken thighs, or rotisserie chicken if you don’t want to use canned. Additionally, you could also use turkey or other kinds of meat for a unique variety, too.
