Ingredients
Sour cream - This is what helps make the dressing nice and creamy. You can also use Greek yogurt.
Mayonnaise - Just a little bit of mayo is needed for this salad dressing recipe.
Dill pickle juice - Adding the picked juice helps to add more pickle flavoring and thin out the dressing a bit.
Dill pickles - These are the star of the show! Choose your favorite brand and enjoy.
Garlic powder - Minced garlic could work as well.
Onion powder - A little bit of onion flavoring is really delicious with the dill.
Parsley - It's a great visual addition and a good flavor.
Salt - Just a pinch for taste.
How To Make Dill Pickle Salad Dressing
It couldn't be easier to make this creamy dill pickle dressing.
Step One: Add all the ingredients together into a food processor or a blender.
Expert Tip: If you don't have a blender or food processor you can chop the pickles into very small pieces and whisk the ingredients together.
Step Two: Combine the ingredients well and then pour them into a jar or container. Place in the fridge to chill until use.
Variations
Use different types of pickles - Even though this is dill pickle dressing, you can make this with sweet pickles or bread and butter pickles as well. It won't have the same tangy flavor but will be sweet and delicious.
Seasonings - Since you're already adding in a teaspoon of garlic powder and a teaspoon of onion powder, you might as well think about adding some black pepper and possibly even a little bit of fresh dill or dried dill weed, too!
Dip - If you want to dip veggies like cauliflower, broccoli, and celery into it, that would be yummy and refreshing as well. You can vary the thickness by using less pickle juice.
Common Questions
How long is this dill pickle dressing good for?
Be sure that you keep this dressing stored in the fridge in an airtight container. It should stay fresh and delicious for 4-5 days. When you have leftovers, putting a lid on them and keeping it cool is key.
It's also important that you don't put a spoon or fork into the jar that someone has put into their mouth. This spreads germs, and that isn't healthy to have those germs in the jar.
Instead, pour out the dill pickle ranch dressing or use a clean spoon each time that you dip into the jar.
What other foods would dill pickle dressing pair with?
I'm all about using this in the homemade salad kits that I meal prep for lunch and dinner, but there are other options as well. I think that this would be delicious with pasta salads, on top of any chopped salad, or mixed in with green cabbage or red cabbage, shredded kale, and chopped radish as well.
Make sure to make the salad differently every time! I love to have romaine lettuce, feta cheese or shredded cheddar cheese, chicken, diced cucumbers, fresh cilantro, and more! You can also toast up some breadcrumbs or add croutons, too.
Kick the flavor up a bit by adding chopped bacon and cherry tomatoes to your salad as well. When it comes to ingredients and more vegetables, you can't go wrong!
