Ingredients
- Almond flour – You can easily make your own almond flour if you have a good food processor and blanched almonds or buy your favorite brand at the store.
- Coconut flour – Coconut flour is perfect for making low carb bread and desserts. It balances the natural oiliness of the almond flour.
- Sour cream – Adding sour cream is a great trick for baking as it adds moisture to bread, cakes, and desserts.
- Egg – The egg helps to bind together the ingredients to form the biscuit dough.
- Butter – You’ll use butter in the dough and also on top for the garlic topping.
- Baking powder – Helps to give a little rise to the biscuits to add fluffiness. Make sure to check your baking powder is within date so the biscuits rise.
- Garlic powder – Used in the biscuits and as a topping as an easy way to add some garlic flavor.
- Salt – Salt enhances the natural flavors of the cheese and other ingredients in the biscuits.
- Shredded cheddar cheese – You can swap this out for any type of cheese that you like or that you have on hand.

How to Make Keto Cheddar Biscuits
1️⃣ Prep
Preheat the oven to 350. Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
2️⃣ Make the Batter
Combine all the batter ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix until smooth.

3️⃣ Scoop the Biscuits
Put 10 scoops of dough on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
👉 Tip: I use a large cookie scoop for uniform circles.

4️⃣ Bake
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden.
5️⃣ Add Garlic Butter Topping
Stir together the melted butter and garlic powder. Brush the garlic butter on the tops of the hot keto cheddar biscuits.
❔ How do I know when keto biscuits are done baking?
The tops of the biscuits and the bottoms of the biscuits are going to turn golden brown. This is your clue that they’re close to being done. You can also poke into the middle of one with a clean toothpick and pull it out to make sure that it doesn’t have any dough on it.

Storage
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 24 hours. I prefer to store them in the refrigerator and reheat when ready to eat.
Variations
- Add sausage – If you want to cook sausage and add it to these easy keto biscuits, do so! I do this in my Sausage Muffins. Ham works as well!
- Mix in parsley – Fresh parsley would taste great with these keto biscuits while giving them a hint of color.
- Cheese – While I love the flavor of these easy keto cheddar biscuits because of the cheddar cheese, you could use Colby Jack, mozzarella, or anything else.

Common Questions
Can I eat this as a breakfast sandwich?
Absolutely. Just fry up an egg, add some sausage and cheese, and you’re good to go! This is also a great idea to meal prep to have some breakfast sandwiches in the freezer for later as well.
What are some other toppings that you can add to these biscuits?
Garlic and butter tend to be the most popular, but who says you can’t change things up? If you want savory, putting a little bit of apple butter with the saltiness of the cheese sounds like quite the perfect pairing.
You can also add some cream cheese to the tops or just leave them plain. You can vary up the toppings by whatever you’re eating with the biscuits.
(The kids think that adding honey on top is a good idea as well!)
Can I make this keto biscuits recipe ahead of time?
Yes, you can. You can easily make the dough and have it sitting in the fridge, ready to bake when you are. You can also bake up a batch of these biscuits and freeze them for later.
When you’re ready to eat them, you just move them to the fridge and let them thaw. To reheat, they’ll heat up easily and really quickly in the microwave so you can enjoy them nice and warm.

I ate one, it’s good, but I think I messed them up. I may have used too much cheddar. What other kind of cheese would be great for these? It needed more salt. I used table salt. I want to use H. sea salt, how much should I use? I baked on A-foil, and the biscuit stuck to the foil. How do I prevent this? Thanks
Any shredded cheese is fine. Mozzarella, gouda, colby jack, etc. Stronger cheese will give a stronger flavor in the biscuits.
Did you use salted butter in the topping? I didn’t use a lot of salt in the biscuits because that plus the naturally saltiness of the cheese was enough to our preference. But you can definitely increase the salt, if you want. I would try 1/2-1 teaspoon next time.
Also, I prefer to use parchment paper. It is rare that anything sticks to it.
I have a batch of these in the air fryer right now. I had Greek yogurt, so substituted for the sour cream.
Is there anything I can substitute for sour cream?
Greek yogurt should work.
I have made these biscuits many times and they always turn out great. The recipe comes together quickly and is done in no time. This will always be my go to recipe.
These are so delicious! They are fool proud even if you don’t have the exact ingredients…I ran out of sour cream and used French onion dip (omitted the salt, though), I’ve used smoked gouda and cheddar… they always come out incredibly tasty! Thanks for the recipe Taryn!!
which ingredient does the carbs come from they seem to be all carb free ingredients
Almond flour. 1/4 cup of almond flour has 6 grams of carbs and 3 grams of fiber.
These sound delicious! Can I use baking blend as a substitute?
Yes
I love these and make them often. I don’t top them after they’re cooked. I’ve shared the recipe with lots of friends who are as enthusiastic about them as I am. Thanks so much for your work!
Everyone of her recipes are great and this one is no different. It tastes so good and very easy to make.
If you wanted to make jalapeño cheddar biscuits, how much jalapeños would you add and would anything else be needed? Thanks!
Depends on how spicy you want them. I would probably just one one.
I use parmesan and they always turn out sensationally! Thanks so much for the delicious recipe.
These are so amazing, and I’m so pleased to find a good Keto biscuits recipe! Love it.
These are such a great side to almost any main course. I love the cheesy flavor!
I made these for lunch to hold a pork patty. The flavor was good, but
mine were a bit dry. My husband said they were great, and he’s been
putting up with my Keto fails for a year. What a guy!
I’m sorry you thought they were dry, Lynn. Have you checked your oven temperature? Try baking them a minute or two less next time.
