Ingredients

  • Almond butter – I love using almond butter because it’s a great healthy fat, but you can honestly use any type of nut butter that you prefer.
  • Cream cheese – This is a great low-carb option that helps to make these treats rich and creamy.
  • Powdered sweetener – Perfect for adding a bit of sweetness to the fat bombs without being overpowering. You can use your favorite keto-friendly sweeteners.

How To Make 3 Ingredient Fat Bombs

Step One: Stir all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl until smooth.

Top Tip💡

This mixes much more easily if all the ingredients are at room temperature. If you want to use cold ingredients, you will need an electric mixer.

Step Two: Make small balls of dough and then place them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. A small cookie scoop works well.

Step Three: Place the sheet in the fridge to firm.

Variations

  • Dark chocolate chips – Adding a little bit of dark chocolate can be a great way to fulfill that chocolate craving. You can even coat these in sugar free chocolate like I do with my Keto Peanut Butter Balls (which taste like a Reese’s peanut butter cup).
  • Cocoa powder – If you want to give these 3-ingredient fat bombs a darker coloring and more flavor, add cocoa powder to the mix.
  • Peanut butter – I’ve made these using creamy peanut butter or crunchy peanut butter as well. It makes super yummy peanut butter balls that still make a great keto snack. Make sure the peanut butter you choose does not have added sugar.
  • Coconut oil – Want to add a little more fat? Coconut oil is the best choice because it solidifies at room temperature. Cocoa butter is another good choice.
  • Sweetener – Another low-carb sweetener to use for a low carb diet is monk fruit sweetener. Just add and stir. Powdered sweeteners do work better in this recipe than granular sweeteners. Liquid stevia should work but I haven’t tested it.
  • Protein powder – If you want to give yourself a boost of energy during the day, increase your protein intake! You can add a flavored protein powder but if it is sweetened you may need to cut back on the sweetener in these to compensate.
  • Add berries – If you want to add a fruit flavor I recommend using freeze-dried berries that have been crushed such as raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries.
  • Extracts – Adding vanilla extract, maple extract, or almond extract really boosts the flavor.

Common Questions

What are fat bombs?

Fat bombs are high fat, low-carb snacks made with just a few simple ingredients. They are designed to provide a quick energy boost and keep you feeling full for longer periods.

Are fat bombs healthy?

While fat bombs are high in healthy fats, they should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet. They can be a useful tool for those following a low-carb or ketogenic diet.

How many calories do fat bombs have?

The calorie content of fat bombs can vary depending on the ingredients used. On average, they range between 100-200 calories per serving. These 3 ingredient fat bombs have 67 calories each. I consider a serving to be 2.

How long do homemade fat bombs last?

When stored properly in an airtight container in the refrigerator, homemade fat bombs can last up to two weeks. If frozen, they can remain edible for up to three months.

Can I use different nut butter for this keto fat bomb recipe?

Absolutely. You can use cashew butter, macadamia nut butter, sunflower butter, keto friendly peanut butter, and any other types of nut butter that you would like. All work well with this fat bomb mixture and are a great way to make different fat bomb flavors.

How do I store fat bombs?

Due to the ingredients used, these need to be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. If you’re not a fan of these keto fat bombs being chilled or cold, you can set them out for a few minutes to get to room temperature before enjoying them.

Can I freeze these fat bombs for later?

You can! The biggest thing to keep in mind when freezing is that you dont’ want to stack them on top of each other. The texture might actually cause them to stick together and then break apart when you try and separate them.

Once you freeze them, be sure to move them to the fridge to thaw. Let them thaw completely, and then eat them. This will ensure that they have the best texture.

Notes

Nutrition: the nutrition facts are for 1 fat bomb. They each have 3.7 NET carbs.
Tips: I recommend grinding granular sweeteners to a powder for this recipe. You can use them in granular form but the fat bombs may be a bit gritty depending on which sweetener you choose.
To Store: they should be kept in the fridge in a tightly-closed container and will last up to 3 weeks.
To Freeze: store in the freezer and keep them airtight. They last around 3-4 months when frozen. Thaw before eating or eat when frozen for an extra fun treat.
Notes on Sweeteners:
I use my own blend of xylitol, erythritol, and stevia in my recipes. This is twice as sweet as sugar. It is comparable to Trim Healthy Mama Gentle Sweet and Truvia.
To sub in Swerve or Lakanto Monk Fruit use 1.5 times the amount of sweetener called for.

To sub in Pyure or Trim Healthy Mama Super Sweet use half the amount of sweetener called for.

Substitutions will work in most recipes. They may not work in candies, such as caramel.
