Summer means sangria around here. It is cheaper than serving straight wine at parties and I like keto sangria so much better. This Easy Sangria Recipe is so flavorful and has only 5 net carbs per glass. My low carb sangria is so delicious they’ll never know it’s not full of juice and sugar.

Nothing says summer to me like a big glass of sangria! I love sangria for many reasons. It is more refreshing than straight wine and you can flavor it in so many ways! And it is a lot cheaper than serving straight wine.

If you’ve never made homemade sangria before it is very easy. You just stretch a bottle of wine with juice, tea, seltzer, or any other liquid and flavor it. I use tea and sugar free sweetener in my keto sangria to keep the carb count down. This is a red sangria recipe but for a white wine sangria recipe try my sugar free Apple Cider Sangria.

Expert Tips for Keto Sangria

My secret ingredient is using a raspberry tea bag and a sprig of fresh rosemary or thyme. The herbs really enhance the flavors of the wine and the berries. This is a sweet sangria and goes well with almost anything. It is one of my favorite easy keto recipes for an adult beverage.

My standard sangria recipe is 1 part pinot grigio to one part apple juice. It is very delicious but not low carb. I wanted to make a version that would be friendlier to my diet. Raspberries are one of my favorite berries and since they are naturally low in sugar they are great for low carb recipes. The only carbs in this are from the wine and raspberries. Using raspberry tea as part of the base means this has fewer carbs and sugar than straight wine.

You can really use this method for any of your cocktail recipes by making an easy keto simple syrup from water and sweetener.

Ingredients for Low Carb Sangria

  • boiling water
  • raspberry tea bag
  • fresh thyme or rosemary – my secret ingredient. Using a sprig of fresh herbs gives this a major flavor boost.
  • sweetener
  • ice-cold water
  • orange extract
  • lemon extract
  • low carb red wine – basically any dry red wine that you enjoy will work
  • frozen or fresh raspberries

To make a whole pitcher of sangria simply use a 750 ml bottle of red wine and multiply the other ingredients by 6.

Other Red Wine Sangria Options

Club Soda or Seltzer – sub for the water for a bubbly sangria

Lime Juice – you can add some lime juice in place of or in addition to the extracts

Strawberries, Blueberries, Blackberries – sub in whatever berries you have for the raspberries

Tea Flavors – try peach tea with white wine or berry tea with mixed berries

Vodka – if you like your sangria a little stronger add a shot of vodka

Nutrition: This makes one serving. There are 5 NET carbs per serving.
Serving Size: To make a pitcher of sangria click on the number 1 next to servings and change it to 6.
Notes on Sweeteners:
I use my own blend of xylitol, erythritol, and stevia in my recipes. This is twice as sweet as sugar. It is comparable to Trim Healthy Mama Gentle Sweet and Truvia.
To sub in Swerve or Lakanto Monk Fruit use 1.5 times the amount of sweetener called for.

To sub in Pyure or Trim Healthy Mama Super Sweet use half the amount of sweetener called for.

Substitutions will work in most recipes. They may not work in candies, such as caramel.

  1. I wasn’t able to change it to 6. It would be great if the recipe was for a larger number of servings since sangria is a group drink.

I tried to move it to six but the system would not let me.
    Thanks!

  2. A hit with the guest. I used Wholesumyum Monk Fruit Allulose, added 1/4 cup of brandy for that extra boozy taste, and topped it off with ginger beer for taste. The tea bags added that extra fruity smooth taste. I will definitely save this recipe for use again!5 stars

  3. This totally hit the spot on this hot summer night. I used what I had on hand – a cherry tea, fresh strawberries, and raspberry lime sparking water in place of the ice water. Delicious and refreshing!5 stars

    1. Not really since you can’t use juice. I’m not sure if a non-alcoholic wine would be on plan. Otherwise, it would just be a sweetened iced tea. Still yummy though!

  4. Do you have a certain type of red wine? I love sangria but have only had it once or twice and never made it myself. Would love to try your recipe but when it comes to picking out wine I am a novice! lol Thanks!!
